My total portfolio value hit $500k this week for the first time! Yes half a million. In fact my portfolio was up .02% versus -.30% for the S&P earlier today. I don’t really have much exposure at all to technology stocks so my portfolio tends to have a lower beta. I mainly look for “value” in this market. I try not to chase the newest hot stocks but focus on earnings and dividend growth. I also try not to watch my portfolio value on a day to day basis but it feels nice to see the value continue to go up with the increases in dividends. I’m a dividend growth investor first and foremost, I don’t plan to sell stocks but plan to live off of the dividends generated by them.
I posted a $200k portfolio milestone on October 14th of 2013. It took me a little under 5 years to add $300k in value to my portfolio. I’m hoping to do better than a 60k average over the next 4 years. In fact I’ll be updating some pretty aggressive goals soon.
I continue, regardless of what the market is doing, to add fresh capital to my portfolio by way of new purchases each month. My updated income goal for the year was $18k in forward dividends which I’m closing in on now and a portfolio value of 500k which I’ve now hit.
While I don’t post every one of my trades, I do keep a live portfolio that’s updated the same day trades occur. You can find my portfolio created from Google Docs that keeps a live snapshot here.
